· Regency Christmas Ball ·

In my Sari Overdress post, I mentioned that my family attended a Christmas Regency Ball last month.  It was such a fabulous event that I had to brag share some photos!

The event was held at the Warner Theater in Erie, PA.  The Warner was built in 1929, and is still used as a theater as well as an event venue.

The theater is just as amazing in real life as the pictures!  It was by far the most impressive ball venue we've ever attended!  Granted, the decor is about 125 years too late for our period, but really- with gorgeous interiors like this, who's counting?! ;-)

After wandering the theater, we all sat down to a catered dinner, and then began our dancing!

Our whole family was able to attend, and it provided the perfect opportunity for our Christmas card picture!

We danced and danced into the night.....

.... And had a thoroughly grand time, indeed!

I love this picture- a typical "behind the scenes" glimpse of my blog photoshoots with Kathryn. ;-)

  1. That looks like so much fun!! I think it is wonderful that you and your family are able to participate in fun events like that!
Unfortunately, we are loners in the historical fashion arena of enthusiasm - nobody else that we know cares about it! We'll have to just start converting people... ;)
Lovely pictures - you, your family, and Kathryn all look lovely (well, and handsome...) ;)

  7. Wow.

So what are some of the dances you did? Did you learn anything new?

    1. Emily, none of the dances were new to me, but then again- I was rather familiar with all the callers at the event. ;-) The dance list included: The Virginia Reel, Comical Fellow, Waltzing to Iowa, Irish Washerwoman, Bare Necessities, Shrewsbury Lasses, Hole in the Wall, Piper and the Penguin, Mr. Beveridge's Maggot, Trip to Paris, Spanish Waltz, and The Carolina Promenade.

  10. Love, love love, your family Christmas photo!!! I'm jealous! The closest I ever got in my family to having a whole period inspired look together was one of those booths at Six Flags where they threw Velcro clothes on you and gave you a sepia tinged picture, ha! I think I was 3. ;-)

Big fan of your blog, by the way, such gorgeous sewing eye candy, thanks for sharing all your lovely works of art!

  12. Your sister's dress and head wrap are perfectly stunning! The most beautiful regency outfit I've seen to date. Did she make the dress herself? Could you write a post on her dress?! Swooning right now!
What a beautiful place for a ball!

    1. Roseanna, yes she did make her dress, and she's so flattered that you liked it! :-) I'll have to put that on the list of potential posts- thanks for the idea!
