· Fundraiser for Jessica! ·

As you've probably already heard, Jessica (of the blog/etsy shop Chronically Vintage) suffered a tragic house fire last month and lost all of her belongings, including an extensive vintage collection.  As she and her husband rebuild their life and get back on their feet, my friend Gina (Beauty from Ashes) had the wonderful idea of organizing a vintage pattern sale for a fundraiser!

Gina has generously donated 30 vintage sewing patterns in all sizes and eras and 100% of the proceeds from their sale will go to Jessica and Tony.  Look for these patterns in the "Fundraiser for Jessica" section!  Joining in, I am taking the opportunity to donate 25% of all proceeds from my entire shop (ModeDeLis), as well as my second Etsy shop (SewingEmporiumCo) from now through Nov 16th!  This is a great chance to not only get vintage treasures, but to help out a friend in need!

Jessica has been one of (if not the most!) supportive and welcoming members of the vintage blogging community and I've been touched again and again by her generosity and kindness- she has given so much to this community!  I know many of you have already donated directly to her donation site and if you were looking for another way to help (and cross off a few Christmas gifts!), this is perfect for killing two birds with one stone!

These show wear on the soles and have 2 scuffs on the back of the right heel, as shown.  They have cushions added in for comfier dancing!  There are a few flaws on the inside seam on the heels- shown in photos.  Great price on a wonderful reproduction brand!

· Lately.... ·

Well, I rather dropped off the face of the earth there!  Life has been picking up- in the last month I moved back home from 6 months of living Chicago as a nanny and I discovered that I have So. Much. Stuff.  While I was living away from home, I felt the nuisance of having "long distance" closets rather keenly.  It's rather inconvenient not to have all of your garments in one location, I have to admit!  However, trying to cram all of my rapidly-multiplying garments into just one closet has taken more effort than expected, lol! ;-)

Announcing: The Grand Wardrobe Cull of 2016.  Otherwise known as maybe the hardest thing I've done in a while....

....All of these (and more!) are up in the Etsy shop with more coming in the next month. Take advantage of the fact that my closet is small and I can't keep all my favorites! ;-)

With all that being said... my month has been filled with diligently stocking up my etsy shops with my de-cluttering!  I've continued my estate sale habit and the great weather has opened up lots of opportunities for more of that!  Keep a look out on the etsy shop in the next month especially- I'll be working to get all of my offerings on there: scarves, hankies, vintage clothing, repro clothing from my family, hats (so many hats!), patterns, fabric, trims, gloves.... There's a lot.

As for the rest of life- Sewing. Swing bands in the small-town bandstand. Book club. Planning travels. Researching. Summer vintage sales. Figuring out the next stage of life. Waltz classes. Local festivals.  You know, the normal. ;-)

I've missed all of you and unfortunately dropping off the face of the earth meant that I also really haven't kept up with my blog comments for quite some time- I'll be going back through those and I look forward to hearing from you all! :-)  I don't post terribly often over on instagram, but it is more frequently than I've been posting here.... Hop on over and give me a follow!

While taking him along on a photoshoot meant less photos and more running/wrangling, it was worth it. ;-)

I recently replenished my stock of vintage patterns for sale, and let me tell you, there are lots of gems!!  Before I put them in my Etsy shop, I'm offering them for on my facebook page at slightly lower prices than they'll be listed on Etsy.

So, if you're interested, take a look!  They're going up in my shop next Friday (Aug 7th) so act fast! :-)

I have quite a few larger patterns- some going up to 44" bust!  There are 3 different albums of patterns on facebook, so make sure you see each one.

I have several sleepwear patterns, each with unique vintage details!  The nightgown and robe on the far left feature smocking (transfers unused and intact!), the robes on the left center are positively oriental (including full sets of monogram transfers!), the (sadly decapitated but otherwise unharmed) pattern on the right center is advertised as being "sleepwear or sportswear"- the cigarette pants are a uniquely vintage addition!, the pattern on the far right also features cigarette pants, a brunch coat, and nightgowns- very versatile!

· Hats, hats, hats! ·

First off, thank you all so, so much for your interest and advice for last week's post!  It was a favorite post of mine before I published it, but I'm so humbled and encouraged at the response it got. :-)  You are all the best readers ever!!

Now, onto the latest!

With my mom, my sister, and I all wearing vintage hats every single day, we understandably have built up quite a... ahem, sizeable collection!  But really, given the fact that we have over one thousand opportunities a year to wear hats, we really don't have all that many.

Right??

All that being said, our collection is out-growing the space we can allot to it.  So, this means news for you!  I'm trying to sell off all the little-used, wrong-sized hats we have.  Some of these are the wrong size, are an unflattering style for our heads, are colors that don't suit us, or just aren't our style.  We positively adore hats, and this is the perfect opportunity to make sure they continue being loved by someone!  I'd be so happy to know the hats went to appreciative owners! :-)

These hats range from the 30s to modern, and there is a lot of variety!  I have 33 listed here, so brace yourself for a long post!

Most of these hats are in good condition- I've noted any issues in each description.

All hats are $5 each.

Truly- spring cleaning fever has hit hard, and I'd like to move these out as quickly as possible, while passing them on to someone more appreciative than Goodwill. :-)

We have a burgeoning collection of patterns, and the time has come to clean out!  I put up over 40 listings on eBay this week, and I wanted to give you all a heads-up.



Historically accurate, costumes, vintage, and more- there's something for everyone! :-)
