Back in my post about my new gingham dress, I mentioned that my sister and I spent the weekend with Kathryn and Tara so we could officially recognize "Gingham Day".
Because the best holidays are the ones you make up. ;-)
For the occasion, we all dressed in gingham, rounded up the essentials for a typically mid-century picnic, and went off to the park!
Glass coke bottles ensued....
.... And recreating vintage ads....
..... And just generally having a good time with great friends!
In case you missed the posts about my dress and Kathryn's, follow the links! My shoes are currently available on Royal Vintage Shoes!
And what's a picnic without a lot of laughing??

Gingham Day sounds like my sort of holiday. :)
ReplyDeleteYou all look beautiful, love your dresses!
Heehee! 'Twas great fun indeed! I think it should be a national holiday. ;-)
DeleteWe are too much fun. :-)
ReplyDeleteUmmm, yes. Thanks for being too much fun with me. :-)
DeleteThis post is PERFECTION!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteAbsolutely lovely! Love all,the dresses. You girls must of turned heads at the park.
ReplyDeleteThey probably thought you were filming a commercial.
Irene
Irene, haha! Actually the park was nearly deserted, but that made for easy photos! The only people there were definitely avoiding eye contact. ;-)
DeleteOh my word, Lily, this is FABULOUS!!!! :D You four are so cute, I just love seeing the fun you have together!! My favorite picture of all is that one of you all laying around on the picnic tablecloth. Absolutely adorable!!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing these fun pictures!!
Aww, thanks Esther! We had great fun. :-D (although we really must schedule these things on *NOT* the hottest days of the year sometime...) That photo was one that was high on our list to do but we all thought we'd get a better effect from an actual photographer, rather than the limited angles of the tripod. ;-)
DeleteYou all look so incredibly beautiful, refined and cute! From the hair to the shoes! And what an amazing picknick! Really inspiring :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
DeleteI have been following you for awhile, I saw you at one of Melissa Niednagel's balls in Missouri around a year ago. I love most of your projects and photography, but I have to say, your black gingham dress is my all-time favorite, both this post and the pictures you posted a few weeks ago. Love it so much! I would LOVE the pattern. Fantastic job. So many cute outfits!
ReplyDeleteAnna, thanks for commenting! :-) If you ever see me again, make sure to introduce yourself! I love meeting readers. :-)
DeleteAnd thank you so much! I'm so pleased it ended up living up to my expectations!
perfectly picknicky!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh this is all SO BEAUTIFUL! I want to be part of your gang!
ReplyDeleteStunning photography too.
xo
Ooh, looks like fun! It's really neat to see how each of you interpreted your version of the gingham dress!
ReplyDeleteThanks! And you're right- it's so fun to see the little differences we each chose!
DeleteLOVE these photos! What a fun day indeed! I saw you post on Instagram and commented that I needed to add a gingham dress to my vintage wardrobe. As fate would have it I was able to snag one later in the day through one of the FB vintage pay/sell pages. How funny!
ReplyDelete-Emily
Emily, what fun! I feel like I might need a little more gingham in my life now... it's rather shocking how absent from my wardrobe it has been!
DeleteIt sounds like you had a wonderful time. I think it is great to have those fun get togethers with friends.

ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteThat sounds like my kind of holiday! It looks like you had so much fun, the dresses are amazing, and the photos are beautiful as always. Thanks for sharing :)

Thanks so much, Nicole!
DeleteVery cute photos, I love how you all match each other :) My favourite photo is the one where you pose like in a 50's ad, I can so recognize that one! I love vintage ads, they are so feminine and beautiful, like all of you.
ReplyDeleteHeehee, thanks! I do love recreating vintage poses, but they are remarkably awkward at times- "my feet are supposed to be at *what* angle??". ;-)
DeleteThese are some of the most cheerful, beautiful photos (and outfits) I've seen anywhere online this year. Awesome job, ladies - you all look sensational and as though you could have just hopped straight out of the fifties.

Thank you, Jessica! <3
DeleteOh, I can't say how much I love these pics!! You ladies all look absolutely stunning! And yes, totally like a vintage coke ad... Summer inspiration for sure! *sigh* ❤
ReplyDeletexox,

Thanks Bonita! :-) <3
DeleteHi Lily!
ReplyDeleteLove this photoshoot!
So fun! Thats the era I adore as well.
I seem to remember in another post, you are wearing beautiful red flats (shoes) with a scalloped edge.
Could you tell me the brand of those?
And the brand and where you got the red sandals you area wearing in this?
I am on the search for just those two styles, and hoped you could help me with the brands. Thanks!
If you could answer ASAP, that'd be the frosting on the cake! :)
Thanks, from Audra K.
