Well, life has been quite the whirlwind!! I am attempting (too often unsuccessfully! ;-P) to find out what my new "normal" is and settle in. The local sewing business has picked up considerably and is keeping me quite busy! On the down-side, I've had a bit less time to devote to my Etsy shop than I originally planned. But, that's how life goes, right? ;-)
This week continues in the "busy" mode, and the next 2 look to be just as full, as a good friend is getting married and I will be in the wedding party! I get to work on her wedding gown, and let me tell you- I can't wait to finally show you all pictures! :-D I'm a big fan of the dress. ;-)
Posting might be a bit sporadic leading up to that, so for now I'll just leave you with a short re-cap of the things I deemed "photo worthy" in my spring sabbatical. ;-)
Hosting a fun "Vintage Travel" themed party! See?? I really do need all that vintage luggage. ;-)
(post with more pics coming later!)
A girls trip to Lake Michigan where I saw my very first giant sand dunes. Wow. Those are crazy! While we were there.....
.... we were tourists in Holland, MI. So of course we visited the delft and wooden shoe factories. As well as parking along the road to take photos of the only patch of tulips blooming. All 7 of them. ;-)
We had better tulip and daffodil luck at the flower farm!
And we took trips down to the beach each night to take photos of the sunsets. :-) It was a beautiful change from the cornfields around here, but I don't think I'm quite a beach addict yet. ;-)
This trip was also my very first time taking my camera out in public. Big step for me!! I still haven't made much progress in the Photography Skills department, but now that the weather's warmed up, I'll have more excuses to take photos. ;-)
Finally, I received my first custom Etsy order! I was so excited that I had to take a picture before I even got around to the buttons. ;-)
It's good to be back blogging- I've missed you all! :-)
Yayyy! You are back!!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love the Vintage Travel party picture! So lovely. I'm quite envious of the vintage luggage and pretty tissue paper flowers! ;) I've tried making the tissue paper flowers many times and can never get them pretty and poofy...not sure what I'm doing wrong!
ReplyDeleteSince you mentioned it- I'll be sure to include a few lines in the party post about how I made the tissue paper flowers! :-) It took a few tries, but I was happy with how easy they ended up being!
DeleteSo good to see you back, Lily! :-) And--honestly--those pictures you took are all absolutely amazing. ;-)
ReplyDeleteAww, that's sweet of you to say so. :-) Thanks, Heidi!
DeleteNice job on the photos, Lily! Keep up the good work! Your vintage travel party looks darling!
ReplyDeleteGood to see you back in the blogging world - I've missed you!
Lily,
ReplyDeleteYour photos of Michigan are beautiful!! I would love to visit Holland, Michigan. I am a fan of all things delft. : )
I look forward to seeing the wedding gown you have sewn.
-Sarah
I love the pictures!! I can't wait to see the wedding dress you will be working on! I had a friends talk to me about a crochet overdress for a fabric dress she wants to make for a ball. I am getting excited over it. So exciting you received an order!!!! Good for you!
ReplyDeleteThat project sounds like fun! :-)
DeleteI'm sure it will be lots of fun!
DeleteI'm glad you got to visit Holland. I love Holland--I have two family members who work in that town. I love the beaches and sand dunes!
ReplyDeleteWhilst there, did you visit Field's Fabrics? It's a really nice fabric store. We're blessed to have them in our area.
Sadly, no we didn't. It was a rather quick trip, but considering that I was the only seamstress in the group, maybe it's a good thing I didn't know about that store before! It sounds like one worth visiting next time! :-)
DeleteWe're all glad to have you back :) And I'm really looking forward to seeing that wedding dress and reading all the posts you're planning on posting! Once again I'm admiring your lovely photos - can I get a bit of your photography skills? ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you're back!!! I have missed seeing your gorgeous creations! Sounds like you had a lovely trip!
ReplyDeleteField's is a really nice fabric store - I've been to the one in GR. :-)
Yay! Your public has missed you. :-) Welcome back! And the travel party... ahhhhh!!! SO CUTE!!
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone for your sweet comments! You all are the best part of blogging. :-)
